Press release

We abhor the recent UN press release regarding Somalia.
The UN press release issued on the 13th of March 2007 by Mr François Lonseny Fall, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia. The press release if anything ought to be regarded as being inconsistent, un-resolving, and unequivocal to the current situation in Somalia. The briefing to the council by the Special representative to Somalia, Mr. Francois Fall, is at worst diabolical and at best unrepresentative of the situation.
The joint agreement by the Security Council members for the need to foster an all-inclusive dialogue for Somalia stake-holders is ideal and paramount. However it's unfortunate when it is only verbal endorsement, and lacks the practical drive and the necessary tools to fulfil such need.
The nub of the current crises in Somalia is, for a fact, the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and the illegal occupation and presence of invading Ethiopian troops in Somalia.
Unless this is addressed any other approach will be irrelevant and unrealistic.
The Security Council should put emphasis on restoring the balance of power sharing within the TFG. It should also urge and request the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Ethiopian invading forces in Somalia. These two essential primary steps will to some extent restore the hope and trust of the Somali people, and could pave the way for an all inclusive Somali reconciliation process independent from Ethiopia’s intrusion into Somali affairs.
We, the New SYL, and indeed all other independent political parties of Somalia, are in favour of such steps in order to achieve a long-lasting solution for the Somali. We the New SYL are a non-violent organization.
Sincerely,
Mr. Awale Ali Kullane
Leader of the New SYL
