Press Release
Merciless assassination of more then 40 Somalis

We strongly condemn the unjustifiable merciless assassination of more then 40 Somalis including women and children who where traveling on two busses in Arbiska near the town of Afgoye by the Ethiopian troops, We also urge the international community to condemn such inhuman acts by the Ethiopian troops in Somalia and bring those responsible to justice.

We also urge the Ethiopian troops to withdraw from Somalia, these sorts of blanket acts by the Ethiopian troops to collectively punish the entire people as a result of the behavior of a few radicals truly define the Ethiopian troops as terrorists and also undermine the value, the stability and the progress the very TFG government the Ethiopian troops claim to protect.

These acts of aggression by the Ethiopian troops against innocent Somali civilians increase the hostility of both nations and the instability of Somalia and the region.

In the absence of the immediate withdrawal of the Ethiopian troops from Somalia, we strongly request the Ethiopian troops to exercise Restraint in responding to the insurgency, we also strongly request the international community as well as the AU to expedite the replacement of the Ethiopia troops in Somalia to UN and AU troops.

We the New SYL send our condolences to the bereaved families of the victims first and foremost and the general public of Somalia.

Press release
Letter of Condemnation to Qaadisiya website for encouraging the assasinations of sister Nasro

We deplore and condemn in the strongest terms the inhumane actions of qaadisya.com website, for boasting and celebrating the killing of Nasra a young Somali female who has been shot in the head by a gang in Afgooye on the 12th of August 2008 for selling eggs to the Ethiopian troops.

Such inhuman support and motivation from Qaadisya.com of criminal acts against civilians and poor Somalis in afgooye like Nasro is deploring and sad, instead of standing up for poor unarmed civilians, Qaadisiya.com glorified the gangs who have assassinated sister Nasro, such brutal support of the killing of unarmed vulnerable Somali sister for selling eggs is one of the most abhorring acts in the world today.

We the New SYL first and foremost send our condolences to the bereaved families of sister Nasro and the families of the nine other victims of this weeks assassinations attacks endorsed by Qaadisya.com, and we also send our condolences to the people of afgooye as well as the general public of Somalia.

It is sad and unfortunate to see such atrocities against the most vulnerable and innocent civilians. We fail to understand why Qaadisya.com and its editors support such hideous crime against the poor population of Somalia and what they hope to achieve by doing so. Nevertheless we call upon the International Community to condemn Qaadisya.com and its naked support to atrocities committed against Somali civilians. This cannot be let to continue for the sake of humanity.

We call on the Somali people to stand together in defiance against such act, no cowardly attack of that nature will hinder the peace and unity we Somalis seek, instead let our response be one of unity and collaboration.

We shall always remember victims such as sister Nasro who where robed of their lives by criminals who want to insert fear in our people’s hearts and minds, Once again our deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

recent endorsement

The New SYL
New Somali Youth League

Press Release
9/04/07
In the wake of the recent endorsement by Jendayi Frazer , US Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, towards the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and the occupying Ethiopian troops it is alarming to notice that the latter entities are pursuing objectives other than what the World were led to believe – the hunt and elimination for wanted extremist elements and suspected terrorist in Somalia. Not only have we witnessed massacres and genocides carried out on innocent civilians in this pretext but we also noticed the international community silent. Hypnotically led to believe that this is a ‘war on terror’. . None the less we have on numerous occasion previously pointed out that the current campaign waged by the illegal occupation of Ethiopian troops and the despotic TFG have a different implication than what was set out in the recent Press Release of the ICGS and that of the US Assistant Secretary. The TFG is no longer a reconciliation government but rather an element used by its leader to vent out his tribal animosity and instill an institution that is in harmony with his domination – hence recreate the clan enmity of 1990’s in order to insert his nepotism conquest.
The underlying factors and aims by both the disfavored TFG and Ethiopian occupying forces are incoherent with that of the super power whose support it harnesses , the US government.
Following is an extract from speech given on 8/04/07 by the Assistant Minister for Defense in the TFG, Salad Ali Jeele, whose audience were from his own sub-clan. In his speech he attempts to rekindle the clan animosity which resulted to the division of Mogadishu into North and South. He urges his audience to help the Ethiopians to root out what he terms as their enemies. He apparently promises that the onslaught will recommence soon and that victory is on sight, that the enemies will be expelled and the city, Mogadishu, will once again return to its rightful owners.
Jeele’s speech:
• “We have succeed in winning the political aspect, what remains now is the force implication. And the current imposing powerful force (referring to the occupying Ethiopian troops) is one that will succeed in three days if you my ‘kinsmen’ just watch, but if you join in support it is going to succeed in one day because there is nothing that can match your united power. The reason why Neero, Ossoble and Alasow Dhere (referring to figures who lost their lives in the clashes between Ali Mahdi and General Aydiid in 1991) died for was to liberate the city and the region from outsiders and return its command to its rightful owners. Very soon people will flee from this town , but I wonder where they will flee to. Whether it is here to the north side or to Galgaduud ( a region in central Somalia). Since people cannot reconcile and come to terms with each other it is best to forcefully expel from the city……..Now my brethrens we should have come to you before, and we know to be a politician you need to have people whom you represent, and that nobody can be anything without the support of his clan…...however we are now in the final stages. You have seen what happened in the last four days onslaught (referring to the recent clashes in which the Ethiopian troops indiscriminately shelled the city –causing massacre and mass destruction )without doubt who ever has survived that onslaught will be exterminated in the one to follow soon. And that is what we have agreed on, those of us in the ministerial council and other dignitaries such as Mohamed Dhere ( former host of the TFG while they were based in Jowhar some 90Km north of Mogadishu)……people please know that the victory is on sight and be prepared to see how in short time it will be achieved - just watch it like a card-game . You know in every card-game has to be played to get a winner.
We and obviously all other peace loving Somalis sincerely don’t believe that the demented character such as the assistant minister represents anyone other than the TFG, and we surely know that his words cannot be attributed to the well reputed clan he hails from – however having said that it is beyond doubt that he is clearly specifying an agenda within the TFG leadership which is to reignite tribal animosity that has long been forgotten and buried. This follows a recent interview by the President of the TFG , Abdullahi Yusuf . gave to the Somali section of VOA in which he clearly stated everywhere and anywhere where they deem fit will be shelled . This alarmingly specifies that President Yusuf and his cohorts are on a mission of ethnic cleansing and has the material support of both Ethiopian and US and the silent support of the International Community.

International Contact Group on Somalia (ICGS)

New Somali Youth League

PRESS RELEASE

4th April 2007

In the wake of the International Contact Group on Somalia (ICGS) meeting in Cairo there was the hope that a way will be found to solve the current dilemma in Somalia. The urgency in their meeting in response to the fiasco in the ground did not match the outcome.
Though essential in condemning the presence of extremist’s elements in the current clashes, however it cannot be largely attributed to the cause of the current unrests in Mogadishu. We have continuously stated in the past and reiterate now that the unilateral approach pursued by the TFG leader who has the military support from the occupying Ethiopian forces can be said to be the catalyst and the major ingredient to the conflicts in Mogadishu. It is these put together with the fact the presence of a unauthorized Ethiopian troops in Somalia that are a cause to resistance and the creation of, if any, elements of extremism.
We warned before that the TFG should be transparent and representative in order to win the trust of the Somali people, but when you have the President of the TFG and other high ranking officials condoning the continuous and indiscriminate shelling for three days on densely populated areas in Mogadishu by Ethiopian troops, then it becomes questionable whether they are a reconciliation government or even whether they hold dear the interest of the Somali people.

Never the less we support the ICGS’s fostering for an all inclusive and genuine political reconciliation process. And we urge them to convene such a meeting independent from the influence and control of the TFG, who are no longer an entity of reconciliation, and the Ethiopian government who have been embroiled in the Somali political dilemma due to reasons known to them. Note that this step is vital in attempt to make the conference a genuine and all inclusive.
The ICGS support for the AMISOM troops in Somalia is essentially beneficial in order to achieve a stable and reconciled Somalia, but however this approach will be undermined by the presence of Ethiopian troops in the country. Therefore the ICGS should make a priority in immediately withdrawing the occupying Ethiopian troops. It is imperative that they realize the presence of these troops only further propagates armed resistance and a haven for elements opposed to acceptable Somali solution.

Catastrophic genocide is on-going

The New SYL

Press Release

Catastrophic genocide is on-going in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, as I write this press release. Early this morning (29/03/07) in the early hours tanks and helicopters moved into densely populated areas in Mogadishu under the pretext of disarming Islamic extremist but is in reality to break down the dominant civilian population of the city – who are opposed to the despotic regime created by Ethiopia.
Annihilation and mass genocide is under statement to describe the current and present situation in Mogadishu.
We have on numerous occasion warned the International Community the result of such atrocity actions carried out by the occupying Ethiopian troops in Mogadishu, but they have turned a deaf ear – today – just now hours after the inhuman military action by Ethiopian troops started, the count of dead Somali civilians exceed over hundreds, and God forbid, it will only escalate.
We are still appealing to the good senses, if ever there is any, of the International community to do something about this naked, direct and unjustified attacks against Somali civilians which is in clear definition atrocities and genocide, which can purely be summarized as an apparent violation of all existing International Laws and Human rights. We fail to understand how the World has let this to happen and continue to happen – what is the logic behind it? Or are the lives of thousands of Somalis less value to the rest of the World.
This is not acceptable, this cannot be accepted, this should not be let to continue.

Rest assured that we will hold the International community responsible for the atrocities in Mogadishu because of their insignificance to the apparent genocide, and most of all we hold United States of America, the AU and the regional organization IGAD in contempt of the International Law for their clear legalization of the illegal occupation by the Ethiopian troops and the atrocities and genocide carried out by them..
An opposition cannot be forcefully silent as is the case in many parts of the World, and Somalia is no different.

Unwarranted attacks by Ethiopian forces

Press Release

Unwarranted attacks by Ethiopian forces

As a result of the unwarranted and unjustified hostile aerial and ground attacks waged by the occupying Ethiopian forces in Mogadishu this morning, numerous civilians were either killed, maimed or wounded by indiscriminate firing and shells from Ethiopian troops, tanks and helicopters.

It was an unprecedented human disaster of its kind and calculatingly organized and carried out by Ethiopia and the dysfunctional TFG.

This cunningly plot by the Ethiopians was preceded by days of talks between officers of the occupying troops and the elders of the community that reside in Mogadishu and southern Somalia. Ceasefire was agreed and continuation of talks in order to break the deadlock. The Ethiopian attack which proceeded Early morning of the 29th March 2007 was dubious and ill planned by the occupying Ethiopian troops and TFG with intend to forcefully terminate their opposition.

In light of the above it is only justified to say that the validity of the TFG as a reconciliation government does no longer exists – purely on the basis of their policies and actions that has condoned and warranted the atrocities in Mogadishu.

Hence we suggest the following to the International communities particularly the UN Security Council, AU and the EU:

  • First and foremost to organize ways and means of delivering food and medicine to those thousands of people affected by the human atrocities of Ethiopia.
  • To immediately call for and enforce the withdrawal of Ethiopian troops from Somalia.
  • To convene all opposed Somali political parties in order to achieve a mutually suitable and sustainable solution for the Somali dilemma.

New SYL Press release

MOGADISHU 21ST OF MARCH 2007

We the New SYL are saddened by the outcome of the clashes this morning (21/March/2007) in Mogadishu. This was propagated by the intend of the illegitimate TFG troops accompanied by occupying Ethiopian troops.
The intention of the President of the TFG to use his clan militias, whom he terms as national army, along with the Ethiopian troops to disarm other clan militias will only spiral clan animosity and armed conflicts. This is not a solution. This is not a Transitional National Government set to reconcile and peacefully and equally disarm armed clan militias. This is not the reconciliation government structured and validated in Nairobi two and half years. It has thwarted from the principles it was set out for. It is no longer balanced on power sharing and it has turned to be despotic under its leader, President Yusuf.
The TFG leader and his Ethiopian cohorts claim to be fighting against the remnants of the Islamic Courts Union, hence their falsified claim ‘fighting against internationally organized terrorist group’ seems to have bought them the support, time and most of all the insignificance of the International Community towards the disaster situation in Somalia. They could have not been far from the truth. The armed resistance opposed to the TFG and their cohorts are those that are opposed to the unilateralism of the TFG, those who oppose the usage of clan as National army and deployed to disarm other clans, those who oppose the presence of the Ethiopian invading troops in Somalia who have no regional and international mandate in Somalia. And without doubt the armed resistance will continue and gain momentum unless the situation is amended.
The International Community, particularly the UN Security Council and the EU should immediately and unconditionally interfere the mishap situation and to urge and enforce:
• The unconditional and immediate withdrawal of Ethiopian troops from Somalia.
• Immediately asking for a halt to the armed and violent aggression by the TFG and Ethiopian troops.
• Encourage and request the reformation of the TFG in the manner and purpose it was created for – restoring its legitimate Speaker of Parliament, and seating the TFG Parliament in an environment independent from the intrusion of President Yusuf and his guardians the Ethiopian government – this will be a big step in creating and harboring the trust of the general Somali public.
• The International Community should with immediate effect consider, heed and address the two Press Statements issued by the Hawiye Community on 06/March/2007 & 20/March/2007.
• To foster, convene and host a reconciliation conference among all members of the Somali political forces – including a ‘unified’ TFG, Islamic Courts Union, tribal and religious leaders, civic societies, Somalia Diaspora, and other prominent and reputed Somali figures. Please note that the organization of such meeting should not be involved with IGAD who has failed Somalia miserably.

We urge and reiterate the urgency of matter that requires the immediate attention of the International Community. We regret our previous warnings were not heeded, we hope the issues we raise now are noticed and amended in order to avoid further disaster.

support the EU call

The New SYL
New Somali Youth League
Somali Political Party

Press Release
23/04/07
We strongly concur with and support the EU call for an end to hostility and introduction of ceasefire in Somalia by both parties . Having said that we also deem the call, though appropriate, is short of expectation in view to the situation on the ground.
On one hand the EU is urgently calling for the speedy financial support for a AU peace-keeping mission in Somalia to replace the occupying Ethiopian troops. On the other hand the EU is gravely concerned about the escalation of violence. Isn’t it apparently clear that the catalyst to the latter is due to the illegal occupation and presence of Ethiopian troops in Somalia. Hence to correlate the two will only further negate the fact that the Ethiopian troops are the conspirators of the current conflict. Furthermore there is already the presence of AU peace-keeping troops in Somalia who are not part of this conflict. Thus clearly showing that the two , AU and Ethiopian troops, have a different agenda. The latter is continuously shelling , bombarding and killing indiscriminately Somali civilians. Therefore cannot be classified as peace-keeping troops, not mentioning the fact that their occupation and invasion of Somalia contradicts International Law. It is essential that the immediate call for Ethiopian withdrawal from Somalia should not be embedded with any other viable solution for Somalia, as it is vital on its own and should be the initial point of embarkation for peace.
The EU were very instrumental in calling for all inclusive peace conference before it was hijacked by the incumbent Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia. The TFG established on the basis of a fraudulent system and had the forceful backing of Ethiopia was always unrepresentative and categorically disillusioned in achieving a genuine reconciliation for Somalia. Thus it should not be made the prime, host and basis for national reconciliation government. However we urge the EU to convene such a meeting and the selection of the attendees should be primarily and fairly granted to the tribal elders, religion leaders, civic societies, Somali Diaspora and reputed Somali leaders and intellectuals in order to iron out an acceptable and lasting solution for the Somali dilemma. It is necessary to pursue the implementation of such conference with immediate effect since the TFG has annulled itself by being part of and endorsing the massacre and genocide of Somali people by the Ethiopian troops. However with great urgency we repeat the fact that all this should be preceded by the calling and over seeing the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Ethiopian troops from Somalia.

Jendayi Fraser

The New SYL
New Somali Youth League

Greetings
We the new SYL have a great number of supporter in Mogadishu, although we encouraged

In regard to the VOA (Somali Section) interview with Assistant Secretary Jendayi Fraser we can only sum it up as constructive and leaning towards the right path, at least theoretically, in finding a way through the current despicable situation in Somalia.
In the interview Secretary Fraser touched so many aspects, among one of them was the Ethiopian troop’s presence in Somalia. We are glad that Secretary Fraser agreed to the points the New SYL raised in our previous press-release. The immediate full deployment of the remaining AU troops to Somalia in order to speed the withdrawal of the Ethiopian troops from Somalia.
Secretary Fraser also emphasised in her interview the process of selecting delegates to the planned reconciliation meeting for Somalia. Secretary Fraser suggested that the selection should not be done by the leaders of the current Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia in attempt to safeguard the authenticity of the reconciliation process; we the new SYL strongly support this view. Secretary Fraser was adamant and trusted the Committee headed by Former President Ali Mahdi and hoped that the Former President will fulfill the requirements. However much we would appreciate to agree with Secretary Fraser on this issue, we are on the other hand held back by the fact that this is a committee formed solely by the TFG. Thus one cannot, in one hand ask for the exclusion of the TFG from the process, yet on the other hand condone a committee which was formed solely by the TFG.
Having said that, we would like to state that we categorically don’t question the credibility of the well reputed former President Ali Mahdi, In fact we believe as an individual he has the ability to fulfill such task. However the Reconciliation Committee should be extracted from the influence of the TFG and at the same time expanded to include other dignitaries who have substantial knowledge of the Somali situation. Individuals such as the former Vice-President Mohamed Ali Samatar, former President Abdiqassim Salad Hassan, former Prime-ministers Abdirizaaq Haaji Hussein and Ali Khalif Galleyr, former head of Police Jama Mohamed Qalib. We are sure these individuals combined with others who are at the same level will be able to devise a suitable procedure in organizing a sincere reconciliation conference that could be the vehicle for achieving a desirable and harmonic National government.
We would like to remind Secretary Fraser and the entire International Somali Contact Group that today they have in there capacity the chance to amend the undesirable situation in Somalia, as well as the opportunity to change things for the betterment of Somalia. Secretary Fraser interview with VOA gave a light by the end of the tunnel, and that light can only be extinguished if the path to real reconciliation is left to the TFG and their Ethiopian allies alone.
Since the TFG was established instead of gaining to include others to the process, the TFG was gradually loosing the stakeholders it consisted off - hence turning out to be more despotic

Press release

We abhor the recent UN press release regarding Somalia.
The UN press release issued on the 13th of March 2007 by Mr François Lonseny Fall, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia. The press release if anything ought to be regarded as being inconsistent, un-resolving, and unequivocal to the current situation in Somalia. The briefing to the council by the Special representative to Somalia, Mr. Francois Fall, is at worst diabolical and at best unrepresentative of the situation.
The joint agreement by the Security Council members for the need to foster an all-inclusive dialogue for Somalia stake-holders is ideal and paramount. However it's unfortunate when it is only verbal endorsement, and lacks the practical drive and the necessary tools to fulfil such need.
The nub of the current crises in Somalia is, for a fact, the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and the illegal occupation and presence of invading Ethiopian troops in Somalia.
Unless this is addressed any other approach will be irrelevant and unrealistic.
The Security Council should put emphasis on restoring the balance of power sharing within the TFG. It should also urge and request the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Ethiopian invading forces in Somalia. These two essential primary steps will to some extent restore the hope and trust of the Somali people, and could pave the way for an all inclusive Somali reconciliation process independent from Ethiopia’s intrusion into Somali affairs.
We, the New SYL, and indeed all other independent political parties of Somalia, are in favour of such steps in order to achieve a long-lasting solution for the Somali. We the New SYL are a non-violent organization.

New SYL position on the Reconciliation

Press Release

In regard to the forthcoming Somali reconciliation conference planned and organized by the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) we the New SYL deem it to be misleading, inappropriate, and above all it is a detrimental. It will be used as a platform to deviate from the authentic path needed to be pursued in order to achieve a genuine reconciliation conference. Some of the TFG hierarchy stand to loose some ground with the outcome of the latter, therefore justifying their adamancy in sticking with the current plan conceived, designed, and led by the TFG themselves. Nevertheless it is only bound to be failures from off start at best and at worst deny the Somali people the chance to reconcile in a true manner.

The opportunity to create a desirable vehicle towards a genuine reconciliation among the Somalis stands out today, and it should not be left alone to the TFG. The concerned parties and the outside players, notably the AU, EC and US government, should make use of this occasion to set out plans and means for a reconciliation conference that is all inclusive and bound to succeed in producing an acceptable governance. The TFG though nominal in a sense does not harbor the status of a national central government and in actual fact does no longer comprise of its original stakeholders which was the reason for its establishment. Hence minimizing its ‘value’ as an entity to call for and convene a reconciliation government.

The reconciliation should be among the Somalis who have major political differences in concepts, clan based conflicts, the nationalist anti-Ethiopian groups and the pro-Ethiopian group the (TFG). In regards to the current reconciliation: the TFG and the current reconciliation organizers are not calling to reconcile different groups; they are creating bogus opponents in search of a bogus legitimacy, therefore renders this reconciliation as bogus, unless it’s restructured from this failing path.

27/02/07
Looming Genocide
The prospect of Somalia entering again a cycle of civil war based on clan affiliation is inevitable if the World bodies lets it slide into the current path Somalia is being stirred towards by the TFG and their commanders the Ethiopian occupying forces.
Contributing Factors to possible Clan War:
a. The unjustified and illegal occupation of Ethiopian troops in Somalia and in particular their concentrated presence in Mogadishu.
b. The presence of what is termed as National Army but actually is clan militias affiliated with President Yusuf in Mogadishu – hence hindering and completely undermining the reconciliation process and the structuring of a viable and trusted National Army and security forces – additionally their daily hostilities and authoritarian presence in Mogadishu (with the aid and support of thousands of Ethiopian troops) could spark a unprecedented, irrevocable, and long lasting civil strife based on clan war.
c. The unilateral and authoritarian rule and grip on the TFG by President Yusuf (again with the aid of occupying Ethiopian troops) - the TFG formed two and half years ago with Ethiopian influence was aimed to bring aboard all Warlords of Somalia including President Yusuf – now of all a sudden the lot , apart from him, are discarded from the power sharing in the TFG, questioning the reconciliatory factor of the TFG.
d. Fragmentation and diminishing the authority and democratic power of the Legislative Branch by President Yusuf.
In order to seriously safe Somalia from unforeseeable future of apathy the above mentioned basic errors should be amended with the immediate effect by the World bodies such as UN, AU, EU, ICO, etc. – they should insist, urge, encourage and most of all make sure that the TFG is rectified:
1. The timely announcement of Ethiopian occupation troops and replacement by either AU or EU peace-keeping troops
2. The participation of all clans and militias based in Somalia in the structuring and establishing of National army and security forces – plus the fair sharing of its commandment by all clans of Somalia in the same format which was set to share power in the TFG (before it became headed by a warlord Yusuf and his clan Ethiopians)
3. The limitation of the powers of President Yusuf by bringing back power sharing rule among all clans of Somalia.
4. Re-establishing Sharif Hassan as the head of the Legislative Branch of the TFG and moving the seta of the parliament where it is not guarded by the Ethiopians and clan militias loyal to Andullahi Yusuf.
5. Calling for and the immediate convening of a reconciliation process that includes this TFG, the ICU, Civic societies and others who are not included in the TFG.
Unless such drastic attempts are made Somalia would reach a point where the World bodies would be hoping they did something when they could have. The international organisation should beware that endorsing or being silent and incapacitated supporter of n authoritarian rule aided by invading forces is not a solution for reconciliation but rather the utter opposite.

Somalia Legalised Genocide

Press Release
Somalia Legalised Genocide
The ongoing carnage in Mogadishu is despicable and entirely unacceptable and inhumane. The International community should with immediate effect interfere to bring halt to this, what seems like a legalised genocide.
Somalia and its people don't deserve this; they certainly don't merit the fate that has been brought onto them by the occupying Ethiopian troops and the unpopular and regionally imposed TFG government.
The notion that all this is been done at the expense of eliminating extremist elements and in seek wanted Internationalist terrorist is stale and exceeding its sell by date. The Somali people and in particular those in Mogadishu can no longer bear the burden of a ill conceived and devised plan. Though however if such elements existed the current operation condoned by US and carried out by the Ethiopian troops and their puppets the TFG is unjustifiable. Due to the density of human destruction and the targets of the ill-conceived mission questions should be asked whether the goal of the endorsers of the invasion and that of the fulfillers are parallel and in one. It is alarmingly unhealthy to camouflage the decimation of a particular clan and destruct their habitat as purpose of war against terror.
We have a city shelled from left to right and centre from heavy artillery fire by occupying Ethiopian forces. The victims ; innocent civilians mostly women and children, half of the city buildings brought to the ground , the little infrastructure that existed destroyed, independent media curtailed in attempt to put a lid on actual reporting of the ongoing genocide , people fleeing from this massacres denied shelter and international relief. The volume of this carnage exceeds beyond comprehension that even International Humanitarian are warning of an unpredictable circumstances emerging from the ongoing conflict in Somalia.
This is no longer and never was to empower an internationally recognised Transitional Government. This is de facto an invasion by a long standing enemy country, Ethiopia, and their will to empower a weak and puppet government, TFG that has granted it the reasons to invade Somalia.
The Internationally Community should have heeded the cries and appeals of the Somalia people and it did not, now we wonder what more specifications and warnings does it warrant to get their attention other than the inhumane chaos in Mogadishu currently. How many people should die in Mogadishu before they see this matter as dangerous and unacceptable. It has been reported before that Ethiopian troops are liable to be charged for crimes against humanity in Mogadishu, it's a wonder what will be the charges of the International Authority the remained silent in the face of this genocide.
Finally we appeal, still, the UN, AU, IOC and others to immediately interfere and engage in steps to bring an end to this unfortunate massacre. Likewise we appeal to use your influence to press for the unconditional release of independent journalist held captive by the TFG and their backers occupying Ethiopian troops, the crew of Universal TV led by their director anchorman Mr Abdulqadir Mahamed Ashir (Nadara) Mr.Nadara.

Press release

African Union (AU) mission in Somalia

In regard to African Union (AU) press release of 20/03/07 where it asks for urgent financial and logistics supports from its members for their mission in Somalia, we question the purpose of the AU.

If their purpose is to impose a clan and dictatorial structure government in Somalia then they have every valid reason to request their demand. However whether they will succeed or either be embroiled in the complexity of Somali clan conflict only time will tell.

If their purpose is to bring stability and order to Somalia then they are pursuing a lost cause in attempting to impose, guard and make the TFG central to Somali solution.

The TFG is not a reconciliation government, it is not a representative government and most certainly it is not the key to any solution. Rather on the contrary it is despotic, it drives and exists on conflicts, it has thwarted from the very path it was set for which was to peacefully reconcile the Somali people, it is actually doing the opposite. Above all it is the catalyst to current dilemma in Somalia.

Hence shouldn’t the AU’s role, according to its reputed stature, be to firstly withdraw the invading Ethiopian troops from Somalia. Secondly to resurrect the TFG which it validates – steps such as introducing the leadership and independence of the TFG Parliament from the intrusion of Ethiopian government and that of TFG president are vital for its credibility among the Somali people. And finally fostering and logistically supporting an immediate reconciliation process among Somali opposing political forces, Somali Civic leaders, tribal and religious elders, Somali Diaspora and other prominent Somali figures. The TFG, once its internal problem has been solved, should be part of these groups and not neither the host nor the organizer of such meeting.

The AU can request as much reinforcement or logistics it needs but it will not solve the Somali dilemma unless it appropriately and genuinely pursues the above mentioned steps.

Finally we condemn the continues daily shelling of densely populated areas of Mogadishu by the Ethiopian troops and clan militias of President Yusuf. This will only further propagate armed resistance and a haven for elements opposed to acceptable Somali solution.

.

Sincerely,
